Main Description
The services solution Capgemini sold to the Client might include assumptions about re-use of existing assets. In the
Technology And Infrastructure work stream the technical experts determine what hardware, software and tools do fit in the
solution and can indeed be re-used, either temporary during as As-Is service delivery or during a migration to the To-Be
service delivery or permanently in the To-Be service delivery. This artifact is named Inventory Of What To Re-use.
An example of re-use of hardware can be when Capgemini takes over the data center services from the Client or an incumbent.
It might be worthwhile for the Client that Capgemini moves the existing servers to the new data center instead of using new
servers. Reasons for this may vary. It might be that new licenses for all the middle ware and application software would be
needed once these are moved to new hardware. It might be that the applications are soon to be replaced.
In the case it is decided that existing servers have to be moved, the transition program would execute this move (sometimes
called ‘lift & shift’) as a separate migration subproject in the Technology And Infrastructure work stream.
